Dundee's first public pre-season friendly ended in a draw at Arbroath's Gayfield. It was the Red Lichties that scored first courtesy of trialist Jordyn Sheerin. Dundee stepped up their game in the second half and equalised through Colin McMenamin after substitute Sean Higgins had his shot saved. It proved to be a good work out for the Dark Blues and boss Gordon Chisholm was overall pleased with the performance.
"I thought we started a wee bit slow, a wee bit off the pace, and that’s something we’re going to have to make sure doesn’t happen.”
We picked it up after the break and there were a number of chances, and I thought it was a good game, most of the boys got a good few minutes.
The games we’ve played I’ve been pleased with, and I thought today we started as if it was a typical pre-season game, but in the second half we certainly picked it up.”
“The pitch is a wee bit sticky and we maybe tried to over-play a little bit, and I thought Arbroath did really well. They were right up for the game, but I was pleased with all our boys, and I thought they finished the game really strong.” Gordon told the official Dundee FC website.
New signings Scott Fox, Nicky Riley and Stephen O'Donnell all featured and trialist Jason Talbot also featured at left back. Gordon stated that he still has to make a decision on Talbot who was at Livingston last season and he intends to sit down with him later on in the week to discuss the matter with the player.
